"Every boy should have two things: a dog and a mother willing to let him have one." Lakota was our son Bryan's 7th Christmas present and all he wanted from Santa. The look on his face when he opened the letter from Santa that Christmas morning and realized that his puppy was soon to be here was one of those moments in life I'll always cherish. Santa had arranged for Bryan to have "pick of the litter" in a fantastic litter of pups about an hour north of where we lived. Mom and Dad arranged weekly trips for him to see the pups and make his choice. Finally the pup came home and was named Lakota. All of our lives were destined for a changed as she launched our family into the "dog world" forever making these wonderful wacky retrievers a pivotal part of what we do. Lakota was a wonderful bird dog and family pet. She had a natural point on any bird holding tight for her and an unyielding desire to hunt. Countless hours were spent in the field with all of us together chasing pheasants across Kansas. When Lakota reached 6 years of age we decided to breed her and continue her legacy with us. She whelped 2 litters and we kept both CJ and Gunner out of her first and as they say the rest for us is history. "Lakota thank you!"
Lakota, on the left, is shown here with her son, Sir Gunner of Lakota.
